Day 10: Juggling: The Lost Art of Tossing Stuff Around
It’s pretty much been like a circus during the Summer of Random. So far events have featured a clown, a mime, a magician and now a juggler. We’re still waiting for the acrobats — guessing that’s going to be sometime next week.
When was the last time you tried to juggle? Don’t lie, you’ve tried it. I’m talking about the actual form of juggling and not like juggling specific quandaries in your life. For example, how Jack from Three’s Company would juggle two or three girlfriends only to get caught at the Regal Beagle. You see them on the streets during festivals or maybe a kid’s birthday party. It’s a skill…an art.
That being said, we had a juggler come and visit us here at Infuz on Wednesday, July 27. He was one of those “I mix comedy as I toss things around” jugglers. He gave intimate, personal shows and then ushered everyone into the cafe where he gave a climatic performance. Why was it climatic? He somehow ripped the “tighty whiteys” off the interns and started juggling them….the unmentionables…the undies…the whites.
Of course we took pictures. Take a look and then feel free to tell us about a time when juggling or a juggler affected your life. That’s what the “comment” section is for.
Stay tuned…
Day 9: Snow & Globes In July
On July 20 the REAL Santa took a break from toy-making to pay Infuz a visit. He showed up with belly full of cheer and a bag full of snow globes. Yes, it really was a Christmas in July miracle! Each boy and girl Infuzer, with visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads, lined up to meet Santa and proclaim their “niceness” and denounce any “naughtiness.” The snow globes were enjoyed by all, because even if it was just for a second; they magically took everyone to a place where it is NOT 115 degrees.
Our friends at Rukus caught all the snow globe fun on video for your viewing amusement. The Summer of Random is still just “heating” up, so feel free to keep up with the summer shenanigans on Twitter (@summerofrandom).
Merry Christmas from all of us at Infuz.
Day 8: #BaconDay
Bacon Day. I agree with you, I’m surprised it’s not a national holiday either. I can only imagine all the activities the day would consist of. Kids would wake up extra early to see what swine surprises lay under the pork rind tree. Parents would watch the kids with eager eyes as they sip on their cappuccinos with shaved “baco-bits” on the foam. The dinner would be a celebration of all that is bacon. Grandpa would say grace and thank the “Lord of Sowbelly” for all the past year’s pork blessings; then “Paw-Paw” would have the honor of cutting everyone’s bacon at the table. All the food on the table would somehow or rather incorporate bacon.
Well, Infuz did just that this past Monday, July 18th and needless to say the Infuz staff rejoiced.
Seriously, check out the menu items:
Breakfast:
Bloody Mary Bacon Salad, Tomato, Celery, Pickled Carrots, Bacon Vodka
Pig in a hole – Bacon Toast, Farm Egg, Bacon Hollandaise, Pea Shoots
Duroc Bacon & Brown Sugar Grits, Carmelized Apple
Bacon & Corn Pancakes, Smoked Maple Syrup
Bacon Infuz’d Melon
Lunch:
Truffle Bacon Soup, Crisp Speck, Spring Peas
Pork Belly L.T., Heirloom Tomatoes, Bibb Lettuce, Spicy-Bacon Mayo
Bacon Confit Potato Salad, Malt-Bacon Dressing, Soft Boiled Quail Egg
Bacon Bolognese, Shaved Parmesan, Fennel Pollen
Bacon Rice Krispy Treats, Salt Caramel
Go ahead and send your jealous tweets to @SummerOfRandom. Seriously, the folks at Mosaic went way beyond the call of bacon duty.
Bacon and corn pancakes? Bacon rice crispy treats? The Infuz café became a house of “porkship” (Haha..get it? Like “worship,” but I replaced “wor” with “pork”… No? I’ll get back to the story).
It’s quite amazing we have pictures of “bacon day.” You would think no one would’ve wanted to pick up a camera with all the bacon sweetness surrounding them. PETA declined our lunch invitation. Go figure. Enjoy the pictures we did capture and keep your eyes on the randomness that is the Infuz summer.
Day 7: Allakhazam!
What? You don’t know magician vocabulary? “Abracadabra” is another one they use, too! Yeah, we’re all hyped up on magic here at Infuz. Seriously, who doesn’t like magic? It’s like saying you don’t like pizza. We, as a society, are enamored with magic. We find it in our music, our television shows and our movies. Two words: Harry Potter (Dude. It’s Magic! It’s the Hallows! WWHD?)
So it seemed mandatory that Infuz include it in the Summer of Random. Young and old alike enjoy magic, and this past Thursday, July 14th, Infuzers enjoyed it as well. It was around 11am when a man wearing four nametags, three watches and a red tie made of glitter walked into the agency. The magician was one of those tricksters that used humor to sell his magic (unlike that hack Gob Bluth). He had a quip for everyone that surrounded him; using props and witty banter to explore his humor and his wizardry.
Our magician strolled around the agency giving personal shows for the staffers. Throughout the fourth floor you could hear laughter, “ooh’s” and “ahh’s” and applause.
Right before lunch, our magician decided to put on a full on “show of magic” for us in the Infuz café. This was fun because he engaged the crowd by using some of us as “assistants” and really pushing the crowd participation; again, a lot of laughs, corny puns and applause. This guy was a pro, a true “sleight of hand” maestro.
We’ve had a clown, a mime, a caricature artist and now, a magician. I can’t wait for the Jean-Claude Van Damme look-alikes (that seems pretty random, right?). We took some photos, as we are documenting all that is “random,” for you to enjoy.
We can only imagine what lies in store for us here at the “fuz” during the aptly titled Summer of Random. Did I already mention Van Damme (I’ve got my fingers crossed)?
Day 6: Mime over Matter
It’s been a while since I’ve seen a mime. You know, the French clowns with the white face that always get caught in a windstorm or trapped in a box. Now, I don’t know if I’m speaking for the whole agency, but like I said, I haven’t seen a real live mime since I was a kid. Last time I recall even seeing a mime was on an old episode of Three’s Company. Jack and the mime went toe-to-toe on “mime actions” and the hilarity ensued.
Cut to the present. It was a typical Monday morning at Infuz when in walks a man of pantomime communication. He had the classic look: white face, black stenciled mustache, black headwear and the black and white stripe shirt. Again, classic! It seemed as if the mime temporarily became the CEO of Infuz (sorry, Jason). The mime walked the agency as if it were his, visiting the employees, interacting with them; all the while not muttering one word. The staff warmed up to the mime antics quickly. Some Infuzers nerves had been jolted on the first day of the Summer of Random when a clown popped out at them as they walked off the elevator. This was more of an artistic show. Mime, in my opinion, is a lost art of creative expression.
Check out some of the pictures below. The interaction of mime to Infuzer was where most of the “ha-ha’s” were heard. There is plenty of “random” left this summer. We are starting to really welcome the unplanned, we hope you are, too.
Day 5: Bowling Shoes: Ugly So You Won’t Steal Them
That headline’s a true statement and a fun random fact. Which conveniently leads into a report about the latest event from Infuz’s Summer of Random. As Infuzers arrived to work on Friday morning, they were given a pair of cheap tube socks without any further explanation. Fast-forward to 3:30 p.m. and the entire office was marched up Washington Avenue to the Flamingo Bowling Alley. After receiving a pair of bowling shoes that looked almost good enough to steal, the crew spent the next two hours taking any accumulated stresses from the week out on some defenseless bowling pins.
In a dangerous move by management, the bar was declared open until 5. Which had to have led to some interesting or embarrassing moments. To find out about that and more, we sat down for a fireside chat with Infuz’s Senior Copywriter, Eammon Azizi:
1. What happened at Infuz on Friday, July 8?
Tube socks happened. We thought we were going to be putting on a puppet show at a retirement home or for needy kids. Luckily around 3:30 we strolled up to Flamingo Bowling Alley and bowled our hearts out for two hours. Not only were the lanes open, but so too was the bar. Shirts became un-tucked, techniques became more creative and gutter balls were plentiful.2. Did the clown from the first day of the Summer of Random show up? If so, what was the clown’s score?Hell no. The clown’s bowling score was, “Get the hell outta here and don’t ever come back.”3. Any “behind the scene” stories that you can share (this includes gossip or “too many Cosmo’s” stories)?
In the respect to The Dude, a group of us enjoyed some Caucasians. AKA: White Russians. These were the drinks that really pushed us over the edge. Once other Infuzers saw how much wobbly, rowdy fun we were having, they too wanted a milkshake-like boost of confidence. I’m sure we drank the bar out of creamer. Despite a good effort, sadly nobody barfed, tripped or was arrested.4. Who had the best score? Why?
Katie O’Dell with 153. She beat me by 3. I’m assuming she took some PEDs before the game. But I’m not here to talk about the past.5. How has the Summer of Random changed you?
I think I’ve lost more hair off my head.
Day 4: Champagne Dreams
Last Thursday the 28th might have been…well, just another Thursday. Ya’ know the “Thursday’s” we’re talking about. It’s the day before Friday, the day after Wednesday (which seat should I take?), so you’re kind of stoked, but not really. The day just seems to drag, drag and drag. How do you break up the monotony? Easy. Add a little randomness to your day.
Infuz is getting pretty good at this “random” thing, and also spicing up some Thursday afternoon action. This past Thursday, June 30th (Mashable pulls a Hallmark and declares this day Social Media Day), Infuz presented its staff with some “bubbly” and some small nosh-type appetizers from their friends at Mosaic.
The sound of champagne glasses clinking together could be heard throughout the agency. This particular Thursday opened up to a day of enjoyment, excitement and elegance (champagne can make you feel all “well-to-do”).
You stay classy, Infuz.
Take a look at some of the pics from the random summer day of bubbly. The smiles speak for themselves. We want to include a big random shout-out to our friends at Mosaic for providing the delectable treats. Don’t forget to follow the randomness on Twitter: @SummerofRandom. We promise more unplanned fun awaits.
Embody the arbitrary.
